X-Rated cotton candy is an easily drinkable, fruity, little bit on the sweet side, Tiki style of drink. This cocktail is all about the presentation; it must be done before you make it for the person. It will still taste good if served at the table, but an important visual effect will be missing from the overall sensory experience. Making cotton candy is not hard, but it is a little time-consuming and involves dehydration. I have another post where I made Campari Dust and cotton candy.
X-Rated cotton Candy
Ingredients
- 1¼ oz Blueberry vodka
- ¾ oz Lychee liqueur
- 2 oz pineapple juice
- 2 dashes of Pomegranate syrup or grenadine
Instructions
Place a cotton candy into an empty glass. Shake everything with ice, strain, and pour over the cotton candy.
To make the cotton candy:
Pour half a bottle of X-Rated Fusion liqueur onto the food dehydrator tray.
The wait time varies. I have a smaller one, and it took me around 6 hours for all the liquid to vaporize. What you have left is a substance with a crystallized texture.
Scrape it, cover it, and store it in the fridge. When it is time to use the powder, you have two options: crush and pulverize it with a muddler or spice grinder to make it look like refined sugar or “dust.”
Place the cotton candy into an empty cocktail glass and slowly pour the drink on top. It is done in front of the customer.
Notes
The amount of liquor to make cotton candy will depend on how much cotton candy you need.
