how to make Negroni

Why We Should Use Mist In Drinks

The main idea behind the Mist is to introduce an aroma into the drink. The aroma accounts for about 80-90 percent of the flavour and is the first thing defining the perception of the drink. Mist can be done by spraying on top of the finished cocktail and adding additional aroma without the aroma carrier being part of the mixed drink. Think of squeezing an orange zest over Cosmopolitan; it adds an orange citrus aroma without the orange being part of the already-made drink.

Other examples are spraying vermouth on a very dry Martini, adding a mint aroma to a Mojito, adding bitters to a Negroni, etc.

For instance, we have three even parts in Negroni: gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari.
The drink is stirred with ice, strained in an old-fashioned iced glass, and garnished with an orange twist squeezed over the drink. Suppose you use a sprayer bottle or an atomizer. In that case, you can substitute the orange zest or add an orange aroma by spraying a little bit of orange bitters, enhancing and awakening the sensory perceptions.
